Erica Minaar is based in Cape Town where she was raised. She is a young retiree following a life-long dream of being a performer.

Following a successful career within different sectors of the corporate industry, she retired in 2018 following a 22-year tenure with a blue chip financial services company.

She studied ballet at UCT Ballet School but instead of pursuing a career as a professional ballet dancer, she pursued studies to join the corporate sector.
Since retiring, she’s had fun diving into projects that challenge her creative side. Music and dance being top of the list.

She and a few friends get together weekly for an informal musical gathering to play and improvise, which is what is commonly known as a “jam session”. Their repertoire covers a range of genres which include folk, rock, funk, pop and jazz. Her voice is her instrument. As an alto, she is comfortable in the middle and lower registers where her voice is powerful and resonant.

She’s a huge fan of the rhythmic and melodic structure of Argentine tango music, she is a tango dancer, involved in the community.

To further hone her skills, she completed a workshop with The Voice Shop to learn voice technique and how her voice can add value to a client’s brand. She takes delight in easily flitting between the accents and humour of the locals, whether it’s the Queen’s English or Cape Flats slang.

She’s an entertaining storyteller and has a passion for connecting with audiences.
